Tournament Successes Fall 2020:

LSUS Red River Classic

The Louisiana State Red River Classic is one of the largest fall tournaments of IPDA debate, featuring over 25 universities in attendance on November 7 and 8. Ben Feinstein advanced to the semifinals of the novice division before losing on a 2-1 decision, while Emma Waite made it to the quarterfinals of the junior varsity division. Feinstein is an international studies major from Dedman College.

SMU Debate 2020: Top Speaker at Louisiana Tech Team IPDA Debate Tournament

In a remarkable showing, SMU Debate secured the top speaker award at the Louisiana Tech University team IPDA debate tournament held on October 17-18. Emma Waite earned the top speaker title among competitors from 14 universities spanning from Alaska to Tennessee.

SMU Debate Wins Top Debate Squad Award at Lee College (September 19 & 20, 2020)

SMU Debate kicked off its season by competing in its first tournament online on September 19 and 20. The squad achieved significant tournament success by winning the Mendoza award, which recognizes the most successful debate squad in recent years. SMU Debate recorded the highest point total of all 15 universities participating in the tournament.
